RE-INCARNATE NOW

Ezekwemba came back to earth through me, this time, he came without the mustache and a set of teeth that might pass for a slip. I was told by many that I had taken to his brilliance. A few more had told me that his sharp mien and attitude were slightly similar to mine. A majority still reminded me of that one time he slept in a lady’s lap while having a hair-cut, they already bobble their heads when they see women around me, stating that Ezekwemba was truly back in our today’s world, swearing to high heavens that my chi was aligned in same spheres, in some agreements that seemingly fuel a valid reason for my genuine love for the opposite sex.

Ezekwemba came back to earth through me, this time he came with a slight improvement in writing skills, having tried his hands in that other life, in few primitive writings as a warrant sub-chief. I remember a fable at his funeral, buried with a feather and ink, attributes for marksmanship as a people’s see, an obvious basis for the rumor that made rounds, he was coming back a brainier one. I have inquired over the years if he played any sport, a finality to seal my belief — soccer or ping-pong, but I had learned he was a busy man, who had mastered some kind of dribble, that kind that he exhibited when he deceived Iwualla my grandfather out of his rightful place.

Ezekwemba had also come back through a lot of people in Oboroche Ubaha-Chibuzo Emere, Chijioke Iwualla, Iheanacho Ezekwemba, Chibuzo Ezekwemba, Chinenye Agunnane, Chinenye Awulezi, John Nwadike, and a lot more whom he had in his benevolence ensured that we never saw each others funeral, a classic testament to “Ndi oke mmadu” men of high ordinance in their past lives who have attained rights to multiple expressions. Men who had defiled “ Uwa gi uwa asaa” saying, surpassing those limits of expression, making sure all unfulfilled life purposes came back in some sort. I now live with the vague explanation for my brilliance and smart fingers, going by those manifestations however I was still lost on why we did not have a pool of similar people in that lineage, ones with sharp mind and brains, ones with stellar potentials for leaderships, ones without blemish, ones fit for office — a pool of men who were true representatives of the high ordinances in our today lives. I was still in the borders of understanding that my revered Ezekwemba might have had lesser attributes, one that was not as stellar, one that he vowed to express regardless — only now in other lives, in fulfillment of all his other purposes.

I was on a clear path to understanding the attributes that my co-time travelers picked. I was on a path to learn what explanations were out there to support some unbecoming characters that were rife in the village, one that could not be explained by a life well spent by honorable men long gone. Men with stellar qualities who had returned to Oboroche in this time travel phenomenon, arriving with open arms to families that had long missed them, giving hope and happiness to new mothers, a consolation that an honorable one had returned. We should have been overflowing with men who were true representatives of the high ordinance, with majorly of us sworn to uphold the tenets of the community, a pact as kept by the old — -but we were far from this.

We seem to have been visited by lesser re-incarnates. I remember Mezie my cousin who was an imbecile in his former life or Chukwukere, who was a raging madman in the other life manifesting differently in our today, a telling truth on the cosmic nature of expressions — it can go either way. We had in the villages, a sweeping expression of everything bad, a blanket of foul behaviors that seem to be unabating. One would wonder, why such behaviors were rife when we were meant to be reincarnates of some upright men. One would wonder if there was a circle of events that ensued a cosmic repetition of lesser attributes of men long gone. One would wonder if we were in those times, when those men long gone played on our intelligence, bringing forth at this time, those foul fantasies of theirs, those unbecoming and unwelcome characters that they failed to live in the former life — one cannot sit but wonder.

Re-incarnation seemed to support laws of karma, affecting future consequences, good or bad. It takes the fact that every action has an implication in the future — even in the afterlife. The phenomenon seems to tow some Buddhist line of thoughts — impermanence, which means that thoughts, perceptions and feelings were constantly changing, one therefore reincarnates every moment as a different person based on previous times, actions and state of mind.

Are the manifestations in my village’s pool of men a clear indication of some karma?. Did the old and wise throw caution to the wind at some point in their lives that suggested a karma-payback?

The rate of crime, immorality, never do-gooders in my village is in an all time high. I pray karma reverses on its head and presents a tail laden with good attributes, one with expressions filled with respect for one another, kindness, loyalty to deserving, love for one another, uphold of truth, kith and kin, peace loving, fear of immorality, fear of authority, want to lead and be lead and above all, align self in those lines that will ensure a future filled with great reincarnates.

They should re-incarnate now.
